The Mass Celebrant, whether a Prelate or a Priest, processes to the Altar, having removed the violet stole and cope in the Sacristy (at the Altar if a Prelate) after performing the Exorcism, and wearing all of the traditional vestments for a Catholic Traditional Mass, including the maniple (color of vestments varies according to the Mass to be offered), (a Prelate vests with maniple during the Prayers at the foot of the Altar) with his hands folded together, he makes the required reverence at the foot of the Altar.  If the Blessed Sacrament is present in the Tabernacle, he genuflects along with the Mass Server(s).  He makes the Sign of the Cross on his forehead and chest in the traditional manner, and says in a clear voice:

The Deacon closes the Thurible and gives it to the Celebrant who then Blesses the Altar in the usual way per the rubrics (saying nothing) and, when completed at the Epistle Side, the Celebrant gives the Thurible to the Deacon who descends the steps of the Altar at the Epistle Side to the floor.  The Celebrant faces the Deacon who incenses the Celebrant as the Deacon stands in plano (on the floor) away from the Altar at the Epistle Side of the Altar.

The Prelate goes to the Epistle side to wash both hands, MITRE ON only for the washing; no prayer is said at the washing.

The Celebrant reads INTROIT from the Propers of the Feast in the Missal on the Epistle side.  In a High Mass or Solemn High Mass, the Choir sings the Introit during the Prayers at the Foot of the Altar.
