This scientific study was done in Speckin Forensic Laboratories, located in Okemos, Michigan, by Robert D. Kullman, an experienced Forensic Document Analyst. The results of this scientific study are found in a letter concerning his examination and comparison of copies of five Letters of Sister Lucy, which are purported to be genuine, dated December 17, 1927, May 29, 1930, November 17, 1935, April 13, 1980 and July 13, 1989 with a copy of the Four-Page Document the Vatican has publicly released and which the Vatican claims is a copy of the original document Sister Lucy wrote on Monday, January 3, 1944.

...EXAMINATION TASK:

My examination task is to determine if the "Third Secret" writing [the Four Page Document the Vatican released] and the purported known writings by Sister Lucy were written by the same person.

NOTE:

The following examination results are based on the examination of documents retrieved from an Internet website. Because of the poor quality of the above listed documents, my examination is extremely limited. The detail necessary to reach a conclusive handwriting opinion is not available in reproduced documents; especially those reproduced via the Internet.

My examination is limited to overall letter formations, proportions, spacing and the format of the writing.

EXAMINATION RESULTS:

The purported known writings by Sister Lucy, covering over 50 years in time, contain numerous relatively consistent and repetitive handwriting habits, which indicates the known writings are all of the same person.

When I attempt to integrate the repetitive handwriting habits in the purported known writings by Sister, spanning from 1927 to 1989, with the repetitive handwriting habits found in the Questioned Document "Third Secret" [the Four-Page Document the Vatican released], I find significant formative and proportional differences between many of the letters and letter combinations.

Many of these differences are visibly noticeable in the capital letters, such as the B, P & S; however, because of the quality of the copies, are less detectable in the lower case letters. The more definitve differences in the lower case letters is discoverable in the extensions below and above the base of the writings, such as the extension of the "g" and the hump of the "h" below the base and the "t" and "I" above the base of the writing.

I also find format differences between the margin and indentations of the purported known writings by Sister Lucy and the Questioned Document "Third Secret" [the Four-Page Document the Vatican released].

...Since I find a number of significant differences between the writing of the Questioned Document "Third Secret" [the Four-Page Document the Vatican released] and the purported known writings by Sister Lucy, it is my opinion, based on the documents examined, that the Questioned Document "Third Secret" [the Four-Page Document the Vatican released] can not be identified with the purported known writings by Sister Lucy.

Further, it is my opinion that the number of differences noted in my comparison indicates that it is unlikely the Questioned Document "Third Secret" [the Four-Page Document the Vatican released] was written by the same person who authored the purported known writings by Sister Lucy.

To render a more definitive opinion it would be necessary to examine either the original documents or one to one photographs that accurately reproduce the original documents.
