October 7th
Feast Day of the Holy Rosary

Proper Preparation

Catholic Douay Rheims Bible
This is the Written Word of God

Catholic Saints, who have written on the Spiritual Life, suggest that a "remote preparation" is necessary in order to better understand the Word of God.  This includes being a lover of the Truth as well as the practice the Virtues of Humility, Meekness, and Docility to God the Holy Ghost.  "Proximate preparation" includes two prayers:
1) The Act of Contrition;
2) The Veni, Sancte Spiritus.

An Act of Contrition

O my God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, because I love Thee above all things with my whole heart and soul.  I detest all of my sins because it was for them and His Love for me that Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Most Blessed Trinity, my Lord and my God, suffered, was crucified, and died on the cross.  O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee by my sins, faults, imperfections, negligences and carelessness, Who art all good and deserving of all of my love.

I firmly resolve with the help of Thy Grace, to sin no more, to confess my sins, to do penance, to amend my life, to avoid all of the near occasions of sin, and always give to Thee freely, liberally and generously what is of supererogation and perfection, not only in greater things, but especially in lesser things, so that I may gain beforehand Thy efficacious, superabundant, particular and special Graces and Helps so that I will always be victorious in resisting and overcoming all temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil and his followers.  Grant me those Graces and Helps needed so that my every thought, word and action may be done solely out of love for Thee, Who art Love.  Amen.

Saint John Chrysostom

It was the custom of Patriarch Saint John Chrysostom [b. Antioch, c. 347 A.D. - d. at Commana in Pontus on Friday, September 14, 407 A.D.], Patriarch of Constantinople [Thursday, February 26, 398 A.D. - Thursday, June 24, 404 A.D.], exiled from his See the 2nd time on Thursday, June 24, 404 A.D., Father and Doctor of the Catholic Church, to properly prepare himself and his Congregation before preaching. He taught that unless God the Holy Ghost prepares the minds and hearts of the Preacher and of the Congregation, the Preacher preaches in vain and the Congregation listens in vain.

Therefore, so as not to waste your time, please pray the Veni, Sancte Spiritus, remembering how one Holy Saint was of the opinion that a Sermon is a Sacramental.

Veni, Sancte Spiritus

Come, O Holy Ghost, fill the hearts of Thy faithful
And kindle in them the fire of Thy love.

V. Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created;
R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.

Let Us Pray

O God, who didst instruct the hearts of Thy faithful by the light of Thy Holy Spirit, grant us in the same Spirit to relish what is right and ever to rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary; pray for us.
Saint Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Catholic Schools, pray for us.

Epistle for the Feast Day of the Holy Rosary

Proverbs 8:22-24; 8:32-35.

The Epistle appointed to be read during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass today is taken from the book of Proverbs, Chapter 8, Verses 22-24; and Chapter 8, Verses 32-35.

The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his ways, before he made any thing from the beginning.  I was set up from eternity, and of old, before the earth was made.  The depths were not as yet, and I was already conceived, neither had the fountains of waters as yet sprung out.

Now, therefore, ye children, hear me: blessed are they that keep my ways.  Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, and that watcheth daily at my gates, and waiteth at the posts of my doors.  He that shall find me, shall find life, and shall have salvation from the Lord.

Gospel for the Feast Day of the Holy Rosary

Luke 1:26-38.

The Gospel for today is taken from the Holy Gospel of Saint Luke, Chapter 1, Verses 26-38.

And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth,  to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.  And the angel being come in, said unto her:  Hail, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee:  Blessed art thou amongst women.   Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be. and the angel said to her:  Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God.  Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus.  He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever.  And of his kingdom there shall be no end.  And Mary said to the angel:  How shall this be done, because I know not man?  And the angel answering, said to her:  The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee.  And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.  And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren:  Because no word shall be impossible with God.  And Mary said:  Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word.  And the angel departed from her.

Thus far are the words of today's Holy Gospel.

“Hail, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee:  Blessed art thou amongst women” (Luke 1:28).

VIn the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Today is the Feast Day of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.  Near the top of the Shrine of Saint Jude E-Newsletter, you will find the following message:

Our Blessed Mother asks Catholics to Pray her Traditional Rosary daily.  It will make a Powerful Difference in Your Life!
The Holy Rosary is very powerful!  It reminds one of the victory of David over Goliath.
"And the Priest said: Lo, here is the sword of Goliath, the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Terebinth, wrapped up in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take this, take it, for here there is no other but this. And David said: There is none like that, give it me" (1 Kings 21:9).
By the Grace of God, David killed the giant with a pebble as his only weapon.

Today, every Catholic has a very POWERFUL weapon which is just as effective as the pebble of David.  What is this very POWERFUL weapon?  This very POWERFUL weapon is the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.

The Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary has proven to be very powerful in the battles of the Catholic Church against both heretics and heathen armies.

Here are a few examples of the triumph of the Most Holy Rosary over:

1)  the Albigensian heretics;
2)  the Mohammadan terrorists at Lepanto and Belgrade;
3)  many epidemics abated or averted.

The devotion to the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary is also equally powerful for individuals and for families.

One is reminded of Father Patrick Peyton's famous motto:

"The family that prays together, stays together."

But, even before then, one has the great Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima on Saturday, October 13, 1917 called The Great Miracle of the Sun which was a prophecy of the miraculous Protective Shield of Our Lady of Fatima in August, 1945 at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

It is wise and prudent for all of us to make a proper use of this powerful Spiritual weapon.

Every Catholic MUST follow God's Peace Plan for world peace - OR ELSE!  The alternative is World War III!!!!

For those who are skeptical or lazy or slothful, just remember that the first time around, God judged the world by water; but, the next time around, God is going to judge the world by FIRE!

Part of the Message of Fatima, a.k.a. God's Peace Plan, includes the wearing of the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

BECAUSE of the obvious fact that Our Lady of Mount Carmel put a Protective Shield around the four Jesuit Priests and their Rectory House at Hiroshima, Japan on Monday, August 6, 1945 to protect them from death, and - to varying degrees - from injury, I was guided by Our Lady to pray everyday that she would continue to keep her Protective Shield of TOTAL protection - i.e. her mantle of protection - around me and for those whom I include in my brief prayer to her.

Therefore, I personally suggest, and strongly recommend, the following DAILY devotion - something I have been doing for so many, many years that I no longer remember when I began this devotion, concerning which I can say in Truth - without any reservations of whatsoever kind in whatsoever way - it is "ironclad" no exceptions under any circumstances! - that Our Lady of Mount Carmel has protected me every day from a variety of accidents and injuries, some minor, but some very major, not to mention various "evil people", etc., etc.!

One of the first things I do in the morning, after arising, is to kiss the cloth Brown Scapular I am wearing (I wear it while I am sleeping as well as during the entire day) and say:

Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, please continue to continuously keep thy mantle of protection around me and my family and my parishioners today and tonight and for the rest of our entire lives,  Protect all of us from all harm of whatsoever kind in whatsoever way, including from all evil people, from all accidents and injuries, and everyone and everything that would harm us in any way.  Amen.
I also suggest that you include all of your family members as well.  Husbands, include your Wife and Children;  Wives, include your Husband and Children.

From my own personal experiences over the many, many years I have been doing this, I can attest to the fact that THIS WORKS!!!  Because Our Blessed Mother is the Spiritual Mother of EACH of us, it will "work" for you, too!  But it is necessary to do it DAILY, at least once a day!  I do it several times throughout the day, and even at night when I wake up.
Despite the wrong information of some Clergy, and definitely of certain Protestant Ministers (for those of you who watch them on TV), who claim you do not have to "repeat" your prayers, on the contrary, we must all believe Jesus Christ Who teaches us that:

“The Kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence, and the violent bear it away” (Matthew 11:12).
As some of the classical authors of the Spiritual Life teach-do not give them any peace!  Persistent patience, fortitude, and belief gets us what we need.

To Have It, You Must First Ask for It,
But Ask for What is Good and You Will Receive It

"You have not, because you ask not.  You ask, and receive not; because you ask amiss:  that you may consume it on your concupiscences" (James 4:23).
Ask God for Your Daily Bread, i.e. Your Daily Needs
"And it came to pass, that as he was in a certain place praying, when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him:  Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.  And He said to them:  When you pray, say:  Father, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come. Give us this day our daily bread" (Luke 11:1-3).

God Expects Us, and even Requires Us, to be Persistent in Asking for Good Things
God ignores those who want Him to send us away before He grants our petitions
God Delights in Our Constancy and in Our Persistency and Fortitude in asking Him

"And Jesus went from thence, and retired into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.  And behold a woman of Canaan who came out of those coasts, crying out, said to him:  Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David:  my daughter is grieviously troubled by the devil. Who answered her not a word.  And his disciples came and besought him, saying:  Send her away, for she crieth after us: And he answering, said:  I was not sent but to the sheep that are lost of the house of Israel.  But she came and adored him, saying:  Lord, help me.  Who answering, said:  It is not good to take the bread of the children, and to cast it to the dogs.  But she said:  Yea, Lord; for the whelps also eat of the crumbs that fall from the table of their masters.  Then Jesus answering, said to her:  O woman, great is thy faith:  be it done to thee as thou wilt:  and her daughter was cured from that hour" (Matthew 15:21-28).

The Good Thief Got Much More than That for Which He Asked!!!
"And he said to Jesus:  Lord, remember me when thou shalt come into thy kingdom.  And Jesus said to him:  Amen I say to thee, this day thou shalt be with Me in paradise" (Luke 23:42-43).

God Requires Us to Give Him No Rest, to Never Give up Praying for What We Need!  Why?

Because Christ Himself teaches us:
“The kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent bear it away” (Matthew 11:12).
Persistent Fortitude, Coupled with Belief, Gets Us the Good Things We Need:
"And in all things whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive. (Matthew 21:22).
Further Proof for "repeating" one's prayers is to be found in the Holy Rosary which the Queen of the Holy Rosary gave to Saint Dominic and which DAILY Rosary is part of the Message of Fatima, a.k.a. God's Peace Plan.

The DAILY Rosary, which is a vital part of God's Peace Plan - primarily consists of five decades of ten Hail Mary's!  By the time a person finishes one Rosary, that person has devoutly and reverently recited the Hail Mary a total of 53 times!

Yes, repetition of prayers is necessary!  Do not let anyone mislead you otherwise with their errors.

Convincing Proof for even the most stubborn skeptic for this fact is to be found in what Our Lady of Fatima told Lucia during her Apparition at Fatima on Sunday, May 13, 1917:

Lucia asked:

"And Francisco? Will he go to Heaven too?”
Our Lady said:
"Yes, but first he must say MANY rosaries.”
People who are lazy or slothful and/or who are suffering from acute acedia, and/or who refuse to "work" towards their own salvation, will reap the harvest they have sown!  A word to the wise is sufficient!

Victory of David over Goliath

As mentioned above, the Holy Rosary is very powerful!  It reminds one of the victory of David over Goliath.

In the first book of Kings, you read how the Philistines went forth to battle against the Israelites.  The Philistines arrayed their forces on a mountain, and the Israelites occupied a mountain on the opposite side, so that the valley was between them.  Then there went out from the hordes of the Philistines a man named Goliath, a giant of enormous strength, who challenged the Israelites to let one of their men fight him hand to hand, the result of this contest to decide the victory or defeat of either army.

A youth named David, inspired and urged by the spirit of God, went forth.

"And the words which David spoke were heard, and were rehearsed before Saul.  And when he was brought to Saul, he said to him. Let not any man's heart be dismayed in him: I thy servant will go, and will fight against the Philistine.   And Saul said to David: Thou art not able to withstand this Philistine, nor to fight against him: for thou art but a boy, but he is a warrior from his youth."

"And David said to Saul: Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, or a bear, and took a ram out of the midst of the flock:  And I pursued after them, and struck them, and delivered it out of their mouth: and they rose up against me, and I caught them by the throat, and I strangled, and killed them.  For I thy servant have killed both a lion and a bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be also as one of them. I will go now, and take away the reproach of the people: for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, who hath dared to curse the army of the living God?"

"And David said: The Lord who delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David: Go, and the Lord be with thee.  And Saul clothed David with his garments, and put a helmet of brass upon his head, and armed him with a coat of mail.  And David having girded his sword upon his armour, began to try if he could walk in armour: for he was not accustomed to it."

"And David said to Saul: I cannot go thus, for I am not used to it. And he laid them off, And he took his staff, which he had always in his hands: and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them into the shepherd's scrip, which he had with him, and he took a sling in his hand, and went forth against the Philistine.  "

And the Philistine came on, and drew nigh against David, and his armourbearer went before him.  And when the Philistine looked, and beheld David, he despised him. For he was a young man, ruddy, and of a comely countenance.  And the Philistine said to David: Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with a staff? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.  And he said to David: Come to me, and I will give thy flesh to the birds of the air, and to the beasts of the earth."

"And David said to the Philistine: Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, which thou hast defied.  This day, and the Lord will deliver thee into my hand, and I will slay thee, and take away thy head from thee: and I will give the carcasses of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air, and to the beasts of the earth: that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel."

"And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for it is his battle, and he will deliver you into our hands.  And when the Philistine arose, and was coming, and drew nigh to meet David, David made haste, and ran to the fight to meet the Philistine.  And he put his hand into his scrip, and took a stone, and cast it with the sling, and fetching it about, struck the Philistine in the forehead, and he fell on his face upon the earth."

"And David prevailed over the Philistine, with a sling and a stone, and he struck, and slew the Philistine. And as David had no sword in his hand,  He ran, and stood over the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath, and slew him, and cut off his head. And the Philistines seeing that their champion was dead, fled away.  And the men of Israel and Juda rising up shouted, and pursued after the Philistines till they came to the valley and to the gates of Accaron, and there fell many wounded of the Philistines in the way of Saraim, and as far as Geth, and as far as Accaron.  And the children of Israel returning, after they had pursued the Philistines, fell upon their camp"  (1 Kings 17:31-53).

But because great praise was given to David, King Saul became angry and sought the life of the youthful hero. In his flight David came to Nobe.

"And David came to Nobe, to Achimelech, the Priest and Achimelech was astonished at David's coming. (1 Kings 21:1).

"And David said to Achimelech: Hast thou here at hand a spear, or a sword? for I brought not my own sword, nor my own weapons with me, for the king's business required haste.  And the Priest said: Lo, here is the sword of Goliath, the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Terebinth, wrapped up in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take this, take it, for here there is no other but this. And David said: There is none like that, give it me" (1 Kings 21:8-9).

Now these words most fitly apply to the Most Holy Rosary as already proven above.

In addition, it should also be realized that even since the beginning, the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, has proven itself time and again.

The Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary has proven itself to be a Spiritual conquering weapon for the Catholic Church, as well as for individual Catholics and Catholic families, against the most powerful enemies of God and of His Church.

What follows is some historical data to consider for the Greater Honor and Glory of God and of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.

Ever since the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary gave the Holy Rosary to Saint Dominic Guzman, O.P. [b Calaroga, Old Castile in 1170 A.D. - d. Bologna, Italy in 1221 A.D.], for more than eight hundred years, the great Catholic victories against the many and ferocious enemies of the Church are ascribed to the great devotion of the Most Holy Rosary.

Just as Jesus Christ had His enemies, so also the Mysical Body of Christ, the Catholic Church, has always had enemies.  These enemies, despite all of their power, despite all of their evil ways, have always been overcome by the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.

This is not surprising. Ever since Satan succeeded in beguiling our first parents into sinning, he has continued to sow dissention among mankind. Beginning with Cain and Abel, there have been children of God who obeyed God's Commandments, and, on the other hand, children of Satan, as Sacred Scripture references them, who ignore working for their eternal salvation, and instead wallow in the pleasures of this life which are sinful. Since the time of Cain and Abel, mankind has been split into two divisions, one seeking the kingdom of God, the other the kingdom of the world, the flesh, and the Devil.

When our Savior conquered Satan, He left him power over those who make themselves slaves to the sensual pleasures.  So this is why there exists an evil force against the Church which will continue to exist until the end of the world. This is a fact that we must keep in view in order to fully understand and judge conditions. The realm of darkness, Satan's realm, stands opposed to the realm of Christ. Satan and his adherents carry on the warfare against the Catholic Church, just as they assaulted Christ Himself.

Christ prophecized:

"Remember My word that I said to you:  The servant is not greater than his master.  If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you" (John 15:20).
The Catholic Church requires that the flesh be subject to the spirit. The Catholic Church preaches against materialism, greed, pride, usury, fornication, unjust wars, selfishness, homosexuality, the murder of unborn children, pedophilia, illegal laws, invalid laws, heresy, apostasy, schism, Communism, Freemasonry, paganism, secularism, humanism, persecution of the innocent, the usurpation of power for evil such as secular governments' illegal and invalid claims of jurisdiction regarding certain Sacraments such as Matrimony and granting divorces and annulments of marriages, and the list goes on and on and on.

The Catholic Church preaches the practice of a real Spiritual Life, the living of a life of the Theological and Moral Virtues, especially the Virtues of Charity, Humility, Meekness, Chastity, Honesty, Loyalty, Obedience - especially to the Ten Commandments of God and the Precepts of the Church.  The Catholic Church preaches salutary acts of self-mortification, self-discipline, and penance - especially to unite and conform one's finite will to God's lnfinite Holy Will - to everyone.

Such preaching tends to anger those who would indulge themselves in the various evil things of this world. As they stick their fingers in their ears so they do not hear such preaching, they say:

"Don't put that guilt trip on me!"
Yet, just as Christ foretold the persecution of His Church, so also He also foretold that the gates of hell would not prevail against her. The Catholic Church will conquer her enemies - some will be converted - others who are obstinate will perish in the battle.

But in all of these battles and victories of the Catholic Church, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Most Holy Mother of her Divine Founder, co-operates with the Catholic Church through her intercession.

Do you remember the prophecy concerning the Blessed Virgin Mary that was made by God to Adam and Even in the Garden of Paradise?

"And the Lord God said to the serpent: Because thou hast done this thing, thou art cursed among all cattle, and beasts of the earth: upon thy breast shalt thou go, and earth shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.  I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel" (Genesis 3:14-15).
This "woman" is the Blessed Virgin Mary who would crush the head of the serpent, Satan, the spirit of evil and of darkness and of sin.

How did this happen?

This happened by THE "woman", the Blessed Virgin Mary, becoming the Holy Theotokos, the Holy Mother of God, by bringing forth the Eternal Word of God, the Divine Redeemer.  Now, just as Jesus, through the co-operation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, came into this world, so He desires her co-operation in ruling the world. The history of the contests and Victories of the Catholic Church verify this throughout the centuries.

The Devil and Satan - Lucifer - the evil spirit has a twofold weapon with which he assails and combats God's Church.

Satan's first weapon is the godless, devil-possessed rulers of the world who "are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction" (Philippians 3:18-19) - especially those "puppets" controlled by other evil people behind the scenes, which sinful rulers feign to be the "friend" of the people they have enslaved by their pack of lies, e.g. his own people whom he enslaved by the economicdepression said ruler brought about by the invasion of a foreign country because, as the lie was retold thousands of times, said victimized country "possesses weapons of mass destruction" - but which really possessed a huge deposit of oil - or who otherwise claim to be a "Christian" while, in contradistinction, are card-carrying members of secret societies: e.g. Freemasonry, Skull and Bones, the Illuminati, etc., etc.!

History proves how such devil-possessed and evil, godless authorities of the world, who worship at the twin altars of Satanic power and the almighty dollar, are despicable human agents of Satan - drunk with the wormwood of corrupted authority, invalid jurisdiction, and illegal laws passed by politicians "whose god is their belly and whose glory is in their shame; who mind earthly things" (Philippians 3:19), and supported and encouraged by Satanist judges who are "whited sepulchres... full of dead men's bones, and of all filthiness" (Matthew 23:27), as well as by pagan military leaders whose prime directive is to kill, kill, kill and to test new weapons of real mass destruction upon helpless peoples victimized by such tyranny.

Satan's second weapon is heresy.  It is through heresy that the Devil - Lucifer - attempts to destroy the Catholic Church by a two-progned pitchfork approach.

The first approach is by internal dissension and division

The second approach is by the infiltration of the Catholic Church by the enemies of God, e.g. Modernist Heretics, Freemasons, Communists, Pedophiles, Homosexuals, etc.

Pope Saint Pius X, Giuseppe Sarto [Tuesday, August 4, 1903 - Thursday, August 20, 1914], mentioned - by name - the Modernist Heretics:

"43. And here we have already some of the artifices employed by Modernists to exploit their wares. What efforts do they not make to win new recruits! They seize upon professorships in the seminaries and universities, and gradually make of them chairs of pestilence. In sermons from the pulpit they disseminate their doctrines, although possibly in utterances which are veiled. In congresses they express their teachings more openly. In their social gatherings they introduce them and commend them to others. Under their own names and under pseudonyms they publish numbers of books, newspapers, reviews, and sometimes one and the same writer adopts a variety of pseudonyms to trap the incautious reader into believing in a multitude of Modernist writers. In short, with feverish activity they leave nothing untried in act, speech, and writing. And with what result? We have to deplore the spectacle of many young men, once full of promise and capable of rendering great services to the Church, now gone astray. It is also a subject of grief to Us that many others who, while they certainly do not go so far as the former, have yet been so infected by breathing a poisoned atmosphere, as to think, speak, and write with a degree of laxity which ill becomes a Catholic. They are to be found among the laity, and in the ranks of the clergy, and they are not wanting even in the last place where one might expect to meet them, in religious communities...” (Encyclical Pascendi Dominici Gregis - On the Doctrine of the Modernists [Sunday, September 8, 1907], paragraph # 43, emphasis added).
Both weapons are used together because heresy and calumny can not prevail without substantial support, and heretics seek worldly power and assistance. On every page of Church history we find recorded the clashes planned by these evil forces, from which the Catholic Church always emerged victorious, e.g. the great victory over paganism in general and those Roman Emperors who were savage, blood-thirsty pagan despots in particular.

The history of the veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary helped to win these victories. During the early days, when fierce battles against the Catholic Church were raging, Catholic Bishops and Priests knew of no more efficacious means to avert these dangers than to exhort the faithful to pray to the Blessed Virgin.

You can read this in the history of the Holy Bishops and Martyrs, Saint Ignatius and Saint Irenaeus, who did this in the second century.

In the third century, it was Pope Calixtus I who advised the faithful to take refuge with the Blessed Virgin in time of persecution of the Church. And so on through all Catholic times.

Since the introduction of the Holy Rosary which the Queen of the Holy Rosary gave to Saint Dominic, all great victories have been credited to the devotion of the Holy Rosary.

The first great conquest of the Church effected by the Rosary was the victory over the Albigensian heretics - a group of dualist Cathar heretics - who had spread their heresy in Southern France and had caused great havoc in Church and State.

Saint Bernard wrote of those times:

"The churches are empty, the people without Priests, the Sacraments without reverence. People on their deathbed refuse the assistance of the Church, ridicule penance."
This was the first glorious victory through the devotion of the Holy Rosary. It was the Spiritual sword with which the Church slew the proud Goliath of the dualistic Cathar-Albigensian heresy.

Another wonderful victory through this miraculous weapon of Catholicity was the defeat of the Mohammadan Turkish navy at Lepanto, on October 7, 1571. The mis-nomered reformation, of which Martin Luther was the originator, had spread over the whole of Europe, bringing in its trail destruction, dissension and war.

The Mohammadan Turks, who had long thirsted for vengeance upon the Christian Catholics, found situations favorable for their plans. They gathered all their forces to assail the Catholic countries. The princes of Europe were either indifferent, or were besieged with difficulties in their own lands, and Luther even said he preferred the Mohammadan terrorists to the papacy! Pope Saint Pius V alone realized the great danger that threatened Christianity and he called upon Catholics to defend country and Church against the common enemy.

The Catholic forces which could be assembled were very small compared with those of the Mohammadan Turks. Nevertheless Saint Pius V knew of another power which he realized would be a mighty ally. With all his energy, he exhorted his people to implore the Blessed Virgin and ever-glorious Queen of Heaven and Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, through the Rosary, to come to the assistance of the Christian Catholic army.

It was, as Pope Leo XIII said in his Commendation of the Rosary, an ennobling sight, which drew the eyes of the whole world; on one side, not far from the Corinthian Sea, the Catholics prepared to sacrifice life for religion and country; while gathered on the other side, imploring through the Rosary Mary's assistance for the fighting Catholics, were many Catholics unable to take up arms.

The small army of Christian Catholics attacking the great force of the Mohammadan Turkish fleet was an undertaking similar to the assault of David upon the giant Goliath. On October 7, 1571, the deciding battle was fought in the Bay of Lepanto. The battle raged from six o'clock in the morning until six o'clock at night. It was one of the most terrific battles ever fought. And, in the evening, towards six o'clock, the battle ended in the victory of the Christian Catholics over their powerful enemy.

This wonderful victory of the Catholics was undoubtedly due to the assistance of the Blessed Virgin. Pope Saint Pius V took this position.  In memory of this wonderful achievement, Saint Pius V added to the Litany of the Blessed Virgin the supplication: "Help of Christians, pray for us!" Saint Pius V also established the anniversary of this victory and required it to be celebrated as the feast of "Our Lady of Victory," which Pope Gregory XIII subsequently changed to the "Feast of the Rosary."

In the annals of the Church there is another great victory over the Mohammadan Turks recorded which once more demonstrated the power of the Holy Rosary. It was the great victory in the campaign against the Mohammadan Turks at the beginning of the eighteenth century.

After the Mohammadan Turks had been defeated at sea, they endeavored to conquer on land. They forced their way to Hungary.  They had taken possession of eight provinces, when Emperor Charles VII sent an army against them under the command of Prince Eugene. This army was composed of only seventy thousand men. With this meager force, Prince Eugene defeated two hundred thousand Mohammadan Turks and laid siege to Belgrade, their stronghold.

Prince Eugene, before engaging the enemy, implored the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary through the Rosary.  Then, with confidence in God's assistance, went to battle and to glorious victory. Thirty thousand Mohammadan Turks were slain on the battlefield; the others fled. The Holy Rosary again had won the victory, and that on the Feast Day of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In the same manner as the Rosary was a successful weapon against heretics and other enemies of the Church, it has demonstrated its wonderful efficiency in individual cases of stress.  Here are a few examples.

In the year 1578 a fearful epidemic devastated the city of Pavia. The terrified people made a public vow to build a chapel to our Blessed Lady of the Rosary if the epidemic would cease. And the very day the vow was made the epidemic abated.

A similar case happened in Cologne, where people were saved from an epidemic after such a vow had been made.

That cases like these are innumerable is manifested by the many chapels built as a result of such vows, and by the votive tablets in pilgrimage churches dedicated to Mary where one reads about sight being restored to the blind, hearing to the deaf, speech to the dumb, the use of their limbs to the crippled, diseases of all kind are cured - all by invoking the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary by means of the devotion of the daily Rosary.

The conversion of a hardened sinner is an even greater miracle than all cures of physical diseases. And such conversions to this day are as numerous as they were at the time the Holy Rosary was given to Saint Dominic. Entire nations, provinces and cities have been converted to God through this devotion.

Blessed John, a companion of Saint Dominic, wrote a book about the miraculous power of the Holy Rosary.

Blessed Alan de la Roche tells of a Bishop, in whose diocese morality was decadent, who finally took up the devotion to the Holy Rosary, explained it to his people, prayed it with them, and had it introduced in all parishes. Soon the people abandoned their evil ways.

Saint Clement Hofbauer assures us:

"When I am called to a sick man of whom I know that he is averse to making his peace with God, on the way I pray my Rosary, and when I reach him I am sure to find him desirous to receive the Sacraments."
The holy doctor, Saint Alphonsus De Liguori relates from his experience:
"The walls of Jericho did not collapse more quickly at the trumpet call of Josue than false teachings disappear after the earnest praying of the Rosary. The swimming pool of Jerusalem was not as healing for the bodily sick as the Rosary is as remedy for the spiritually diseased."
These few examples, to which could be added many, many similar instances, prove the miraculous efficacy of the Most Holy Rosary. Oh, that all Catholics would daily grasp this weapon to attack and conquer all enemies of Church and soul!

Great dangers threaten the Spiritual welfare of the individual, the family and of many countries. It is no wonder that Our Lady of Fatima revealed that God's Peace Plan for the world includes the daily devout recitation of the Most Holy Rosary.

Therefore, let us heed our Spiritual Mother.  Let each Catholic face the very real possibility of an atomic or hydrogen bomb exploding over their heads, just as it did to the four Jesuit Priests at Hiroshima, an act that in this case could ignite World War III, or perhaps be an act of World War III - the war by which it seems God will destroy much of the world by fire?

But, for those Catholics who have devoutly, reverently, persistently followed God's Peace Plan for world peace, an integral part of which is the DAILY Catholic Traditional Rosary - not the adulterated version - such Catholics should expect to experience the Protective Shield of Our Lady of Fatima which is the mantle of protection of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and survive such a bomb blast - just as did the four Priests at Hiroshima and the Franciscan Priests at Nagasaki in August, 1945.

The evils of
atomic or hydrogen bombs
and/or
The evils of invasion
can be prevented
by following God's Peace Plan which includes the Daily Rosary!

For those who take the position that the U.S.A., and/or with Western Europe, will be invaded by vast armies, and not bombed, the same holds true.  BECAUSE Our Blessed Mother can and has used her Protective Shield to protect those following God's Peace Plan from two Atomic Bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, why would anyone think Our Blessed Mother would be unable to use her same Protective Shield to protect those following God's Peace Plan from invasion and long columns of tanks rumbling through their main streets?

But every Catholic MUST take action NOW!
All of this can be PREVENTED!

The bottom line is this:
The Soul you MUST save MUST be your own!

Resolutions

For our resolutions, let each of us resolve, right now, with the help of God’s Grace, to say the Holy Rosary, and not just during the month of October, but every day throughout the entire year.  Let us also resolve to faithfully follow God's Peace Plan, beginning NOW - TODAY!

On this web site you will find a number of pages about the "Third Secret of Fatima".  One quick way to find it, and other relevant pages, is to go to the Home Page at:  http://www.shrineofsaintjude.net/homepage.html

Then click on the button that says:  "Blessed Virgin Mary's Index Page".

This will take you to:  http://www.shrineofsaintjude.net/home1201.html

Once there, you will find a number of buttons that will take you to various Marian web pages.  For example:

the Holy Rosary;
3rd Secret of Fatima;
God's Peace Plan;
Our Lady of Fatima's Apparitions;
Our Lady of Fatima's Protective Shield;
How Our Blessed Mother protected four Priests from the atomic bomb at Hiroshima;
Father Huber Schiffer, S.J. and the Protective Shield of Our Lady of Fatima;
two books about Fatima - one written by Sister Lucia herself;
two web pages have lots of copies of various original photos of:
a) the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima on Saturday, October 13, 1917;
b) two of the Priests Our Lady of Fatima protected with her Protective Shield, not only at Hiroshima, but also at Nagasaki.
c) the two airplanes and their pilots that dropped the two atomic bombs;
d) the bombs themselves;
e) the atomic mushroom clouds over Hiroshima and Nagasaki;
f) home and buildings that were destroyed by the bombs.
After reading this data and looking at the many photos, even the most skeptical and slothful should realize the vital importance of daily prayers, but most especially the daily Rosary.

As a final resolution, in the Holy Name of Jesus, and in an exercise of Catholic Charity, please contribute to the support of the Church - in this case - the Shrine of Saint JudePlease help us to save Souls!  Thank you for your thoughtfulness and Charity! Remember, God is never outdone in generosity!!!

Think how happy you will be when, in the next life, God shows you all of the Souls you helped to save by helping our Apostolates, including this Sermon web site, because "he who causeth a sinner to be converted from the error of his way, shall save his soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins" (James 5:20).

“And in doing good, let us not fail.  For in due time we shall reap, not failing.  Therefore, whilst we have time, let us work good to all men, but especially to those who are of the household of the faith” (Galatians  6:9-10).

“Hail, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee:  Blessed art thou amongst women” (Luke 1:28).

V   In the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.
